THE BEGINNING OF A NEW JOURNEY

Italy is synonym of romance, style, passion and love for life. All elements that have become the inspiration for our brand redesign.

Our aim is to give Italian travelers more reasons to be proud of being Italian and delight foreign travelers on their first encounter with Italy through a renewed and special travel experience.

We have embarked on this journey of change starting from our logo. A restyling that maintains the main features of the original design of 1969, enriching it with new exciting details.

Through a sensitive and respectful design approach we have delicately updated our aircraft livery, preserving its most recognizable elements but ensuring a more stylish, more sophisticated and more sensuous look.

The tailfin has maintained the traditional "A", our iconic mark recognized all over the world, revised in the design details and nuances that make it even more attractive. An elegant soft white adds an allure of style and sophistication to the fuselage, while a refined series of white lines create an image of speed.

On board, our guests will be welcomed in completely renovated cabins.

In our long haul Business Class guests will enjoy an exclusive and luxurious travel experience thanks to full-flat seats covered in rich leathers by Poltrona Frau or relax embraced in the soft blankets and pillows produced by Frette.

In addition, while we continue to offer an elegant Italian dining experience we have now added the "Dine Anytime" option that will allow you to choose when to enjoy your meal.

We are also introducing Wi-Fi connectivity on our long haul aircraft allowing, those who to, access to the internet and always be connected.

Our journey towards change does not end here.

These are only the first steps. We are creating a new, modern and very Italian Alitalia, that will continue to grow and improve its products and services - an upgraded airport experience, new lounges, new uniforms - to provide an always greater experience to our guests.

ALITALIA and AIR ONE
GDS EFFICIENCY POLICY - AGENCY DEBIT MEMO

Dear Agent,

Alitalia and AirOne (hereafter "The Company"), following the GDS Efficiency Policy featured during 2010 and in adherence to the IATA Resolution 850m, wish to inform you that starting February 1st 2014 we shall issue ADM's – Agent Debit Memos - for specified malpractices on booking procedures on the base of BIDT data sent by GDS.

This document has to be considered an integration of the previous ADM policies already issued by The Company.

Granted that The Company is monitoring the distribution costs to reduce the unproductive segments, i.e. the booked segments not directly involved in the production of a travel document,the specified violations which will be the cause of an ADM issue are as follows:

1. SEGMENTS NOT CANCELLED (Inactive Bookings)

Segments booked by the Agent and cancelled by the Airline for:

  • Ticket Time Limit expired;
  • Schedule changes;
  • Duplicates;
  • Fictitious names or tickets.

When one of the above is produced, the Airline sends notification directly to the original booking Agent's GDS queue. This notification communicates the change and directs the booking agent to accepting the changes in the passenger name record (PNR) and removes the inactive segments.

Inactive Segment status codes include:

  • HX
  • UC
  • UN
  • NO

All inactive segments must be removed from the GDS PNR at least 24 hours before departure. Agents should monitor their queues on a daily basis.

2. PASSIVE SEGMENTS

Passive segments are only permitted for ticketing purposes.

They must match an existing booking created by:

  • Group reservations;
  • Individual bookings created by the Carrier;
  • Individual bookings created by other Agents.

It has to be considered forbidden and will cause the ADM issue if it has been generated:

  • by the same Agent creating the active reservation;
  • for an administration scope.

3. CHURNING

It is prohibited to repeatedly book and cancel a segment across one or more PNR's and/or GDS's within the same class, or different classes of service, with the goal to circumvent or extend ticketing time limits, hold inventory or to meet GDS productivity targets.

AGENT DEBIT MEMO (ADM)

In case of settled violation of the Policy here published, The Company therefore reserves the right to issue an ADM of EUR 5,00 (or equivalent in local currency) for each passenger/segment held in the certified malpractice and will give the Agent a proper communication through BSPLINK.

ADM will not be issued for amounts less than EUR 11.00.

The concerned charges will be considered valid not before 14 days from the notification of the communication featuring all the necessary details to the Agent verification and check.

ADMINISTRATIVE FEE

To cover the cost of the audit process, the Carrier will charge for each ADM a handling fee of Euro 15,00 (or equivalent amount in local currency), identifiable by the MF code (malpractice fee).

CONTACTS FOR ADM ISSUE AND DISPUTE

Please refer to:

  • email GDSadm@alitalia.it to send supporting documentation

Thank you for your cooperation.

Changes to Alitalia's Ticket Time Limit (TTL) policy on international and intercontinental itineraries

Please be aware of the important changes to Alitalia’s Ticket Time Limit (TTL) policy on international and intercontinental itineraries effective June 24, 2013.

In an effort to be aligned with other carriers on North Atlantic routes including AF-KLM, the following modifications have been made to the TTL policy.

Intercontinental itineraries booked in H and M class will have a more restrictive ticket time limit. The ticket time limit on bookings made within a time range of 338-16 days prior to departure, will become 7 days from original booking date, versus current 45 days prior to departure.

For example, a current H class booking with a departure of 12May14 currently has a ticket time limit of 28Mar14: 45 days prior to departure. Effective June 24, under the new policy, the same booking will have a ticket time limit of 19Jun13, 7 days from 12Jun13, day booking was made.

Alitalia advises you to carefully read the Ticket time limit when making your clients bookings.

ALITALIA WINS THE AWARD "BEST AIRLINE CUISINE" FOR THE QUALITY OF ITS ONBOARD MEALS FOR THE FOURTH CONSECUTIVE YEAR.

New York, December 12, 2013 - For the fourth year in a row, Alitalia, has been recognized as the best airline in the world for the quality of its innovative onboard dining program in Magnifica Business Class.

The prize of “Best Airline Cuisine,” has been awarded by the American magazine Global Traveler, which has been conducting research on the exceptional achievements of the travel and tourism industry for ten years.

More than 28,000 frequent flyers participated in the “2013 GT Tested Reader Survey Awards,” organized by Global Traveler. This recognition rewards Alitalia’s efforts to upgrade its onboard service, through enhancing menus to reflect the culinary excellence of Italy and offering accessories designed by some of the most famous Italian brands.

The menus offered in Magnifica Business Class are inspired by the traditions of the Italian regions and are achieved in collaboration with ALMA, the International School of Italian Cuisine, directed by Gualtiero Marchesi. The menus are served with wines selected in collaboration with the Italian Sommelier Association. Menus change every three months, and the dishes and wines of different regional dishes are featured in each direction, so travelers enjoy a new dining experience each way.

Passengers currently traveling in Alitalia’s Magnifica Class Cabin, enjoy meals prepared by Alma’s culinary master chefs, which will rotate every three months through October 2014. Thanks to the combined efforts of 60 master chefs, ALMA brings to life “Cucina Italiana Contemporanea” or Contemporary Italian Cuisine, offering Alitalia’s Magnifica Class passengers the chance to savor Italy’s world-known flavors.

For example, passengers currently traveling in Magnifica from Italy can expect their dining experience to begin with steamed Reinette apples, accompanied by crunchy radishes in an apple mustard and cervia salt flavored honey sauce. A first course option includes rice timbale with PDO Taleggio cheese accompanied by purple potatoes followed by the entrée, which is lamb stew enhanced with thyme, bay leaves and yogurt in a Pioppini mushroom based sauce. For dessert, passengers are offered Duchess di Parma cake, along with a selection of seasonal fruits and espresso.

ALITALIA WINS EXPERTS’ CHOICE FOR BEST IN-FLIGHT WINE PROGRAM - SAVEUR CULINARY TRAVEL AWARDS

Alitalia has won the Expert’s Choice award for its in-flight wine program in Saveur Magazine’s 2013 Culinary Travel Awards.

Culinary Travel Awards panelist Gabriele Corcos said about Alitalia’s service, "When you realize your flight attendant knows more about wine than some waiters you’ve encountered, well, that’s impressive."

From the awards page: the chief cabin steward on all Alitalia flights doubles as a professional sommelier trained by the Italian Sommelier’s Association of Rome. Alitalia’s official sommelier, in collaboration with the Sommelier Association, selects a range of seasonal and regional Italian wines—such as Brolio Chianti Classico DOCG Barone Ricasoli—and serves them in glassware created by the classic Italian brand Richard Ginori. Further adding to the “Made in Italy” experience is a wine card, provided to each passenger, featuring a map that includes the background of the wines offered in each region of Italy. A video about the regions’ food and wines is shown onboard as well.

PRESS RELEASE

ALITALIA’S INTERNATIONAL MARKETS GROW IN 2013:
+ 3.4% PASSENGERS
+2% THE LOAD FACTOR
GOOD FIRST RESULTS OF REHUBBING

Rome, January 21, 2014 – Alitalia strengthens its presence in its international and intercontinental markets. In 2013, the Company recorded excellent passenger results on its international flights (+3.4%). The load factor increased by 2 percentage points compared to the previous year, from 72.8% in 2012 to 74.8% in 2013.

In particular, Alitalia passengers increased on flights to / from Central and South America (+3.6% vs. 2012), where Alitalia connects Italy with four destinations (Rio de Janeiro, Sao Paulo, Buenos Aires, Caracas).

In addition, thanks to the partnership with Brazilian airline GOL signed in July, Alitalia offers a wide range of destinations connecting in São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro. For example, Alitalia and GOL offer connections to every city in Brazil that will host soccer World Cup matches to be held from June 12 to July 13, 2014.

Brazil is a growing market and Alitalia has seized many opportunities for development. In 2013, Alitalia transported more than 311,000 passengers, an increase of over 6% compared to 2012.

In addition to its scheduled flights, Alitalia has planned and carried out approximately 1,000 charter and special flights for numerous national and international clients, including the flight to Brazil by His Holiness Pope Francis on his first Apostolic Journey to celebrate World Youth Day in Rio de Janeiro.

The load factor on Alitalia flights to / from North America was up 1.6 percentage points, from 80% in 2012 to 81.6% in 2013. In 2010, Alitalia joined the transatlantic joint venture with Delta Air Lines, Air France and KLM. Today, Alitalia serves six destinations in North America (New York, Boston, Miami, Toronto, and with seasonal flights, Los Angeles and Chicago) with connections in code-sharing flights with Delta from New York JFK, Atlanta, Detroit and Minneapolis airports.

For the fourth consecutive year, Alitalia has won the award for Best Airline Cuisine in Global Traveler magazine's GT Readers Tested Survey. Alitalia has also recently received the Expert’s Choice Award for its in-flight wine program in Saveur Magazine’s 2013 Culinary Travel Awards. The prestigious awards recognize Alitalia’s commitment to creating a high-quality Italian dining experience inspired by Italy’s culturally diverse regions and prepared in collaboration with Alma, the Gualtiero Marchesi’s training center for Italian cuisine, and AIS - the Italian Association of Sommeliers.

Despite the delicate macroeconomic situation in 2013, Alitalia has continued its expansion of international routes inaugurating new flights from Rome to Prague, Bilbao, Copenhagen, Krakow, Montpellier, Oran, London City, Podgorica, and from Milan Linate airport to Vienna (in addition to connections from Milan Linate to Warsaw and Prague beginning in March 2014).

The reorganization and optimization of arrival and departure flight times, known as “re-hubbing”, was completed at the end of October at Rome Fiumicino hub. As a result, Alitalia offers more convenient connections for passengers connecting from other Italian airports and for those returning on flights from North America.

The indicators of these first weeks confirmed the Company expectations in terms of traffic flows and flight loads. In particular, since the project began, the load factor on flights to / from Rome Fiumicino grew by nearly 3 percentage points over the same period last year, from 66% to 69%.
